Dr. K. E. Mensah-Abrampa
Director General, National Development Planning Commission
Dr. Kodjo Esseim Mensah-Abrampa is a Development Economist and Planner by profession. He is a public-private-partnership expert and has undertaken advisory and consultancy assignments for key development organisations, including the World Bank, EU, DfID, GIZ, AfDB, and RIC. He has been a guest lecturer with University of Dortmund in Germany, (1996-1999) and supported scholarly activities in Yale University, School of Governance’s Conflict Programme; and MIT’s Urban and Regional Planning Programme.
Prior to taking up his current position, he was the Senior Technical Advisor to the Minister for Planning in Ghana from 2017. He was also a Senior Policy Advisor for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in New York, and responsible for Local Development and Urbanization portfolio, where he initiated several economic development and investment programmes in post-conflict and recovery countries. He had before that spent five years working as the Deputy Head of Office for Eastern and Southern Africa for UN Capital Development Fund, facilitating private sector funding for public infrastructure and local economic development in the Africa Region.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Planning from KNUST, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from University of Ghana, and a Doctorate in Development Economics and Public Financial Management from the University of Dortmund, Germany.
Dr. Mensah-Abrampa is a member of several public boards and cooperations, including Board Chairman of the Central Regional Development Commission (CEDECOM), member of the National Population Council and currently serves as a technical member of several national development initiatives.
