Harriet Abban

Head of Legal and Corporate Secretary

Harriet Abban is the Head of Legal and Corporate Secretary of Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund haven joined in March 2019. She has the rare combination of law and business qualifications coupled with court room (litigation) and corporate work experience spanning over 18 years including the financial industry. She studied law at the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, Legon where she obtained Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree in the year 1998. She obtained B.L.(Professional Law) from the Ghana School of Law and was enrolled as a lawyer in the year 2000. Harriet holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration from the University of Ghana Business School and a Diploma from the Centre for Commercial Law and Financial Regulations, University of Reading in association with Corporate Law Institute. She was sworn in as a Notary Public for the Republic of Ghana on 25 October 2012. She is a member of the Ghana Bar Association. On the financial front, Harriet worked as an in-house lawyer for Cal Bank Ltd. and subsequently rose to the position of Head, Legal. On the international front, she represented the bank in advising, drafting and reviewing various financial and commercial agreements involving international entities such as PROPARCO, OPIC, FMO, IFC, DEG, Shelter Afrique, Ghana International Bank (GhIB) etc. and also acted as Collateral Agent for various International Financial Institutions. Harriet served as a part-time lecturer at the Chartered Institute of Bankers (GH) where she lectured in Principles of Banking Law. She was a member of a team of Consultants who reviewed “Law Relating to Banking” workbook used for instructing professional students at the Chartered Institute of Bankers (Ghana). She has extensive experience in corporate secretarial duties.
